Feature Writing

Returning To RCC 205

Tomorrow morning I have my last new class of the semester, Feature Writing. I was locked out of Radio Documentary because I didn't have the prerequisite. Now it's a return to RCC 205, Alex Gillis's old classroom.

Kerry gave the class a good review; I hope I'm not buried under a ton of assignments.

There are only a few assignments, and two drafts of each.

1. Facts & Arguments piece
2. Query letter
3. Service piece
4. Front-of-book piece
5. Presentation about a Canadian magazine

That seems almost too easy.

Thanks again for recommending it, Kerry. It beats facing the near impossible task of reading 10 books in 13 weeks.

Ashley has English and it looks terrifying.

What was the radio doc prerequisite? I thought all you needed was first year radio?

I would actually need third-year broadcasting, so I'm unsure why the course was offered to students other than ones in the broadcast stream.

That doesn't make any sense. We have a bunch of j-rads who only had an intro to broadcasting, and also, there are four returning exchange students who never had any radio and a couple more from the newspaper stream.

If you're still interested, I'd go speak with Suanne. I bet if there's space in the class, she'd let you in.

I could be wrong then. It was really RAMSS that wouldn't allow me to take the course.

What are the Radio Doc assignments?
